Music Monday [Summertime]

This week's Music Monday theme is summertime songs.

Each year my friends and I go to the beach for a girls' weekend away.  We spend most of our time relaxing in the house's pool listening to music and chatting.  We inevitably hear one song many times over the weekend and it becomes that year's song.  Whenever I hear those songs they remind me of the great times we've had at the beach!

Here are the songs from past years.

This is from our first year at the beach in 2008.  The song was Kid Rock's All Summer Long.

Beach Weekend 2009 with Black Eyed Peas' I Got a Feeling.

Beach Weekend 2010 with Far East Movement's Like a G6.

Beach Weekend 2011 with Katy Perry's Last Friday Night.

Beach Weekend 2012 with LMFAO's Shots!

I can't wait for this year's Beach Weekend!!  I wonder what our 2013 song will be.

12 Weeks of Revolt Fitness

I completed 12 weeks of the Revolt Fitness program.  Go ME!  Other than running, that's the longest I've stuck with a fitness program.  Revolt really does make it easy with short workout videos lasting about 30 minutes and an easy to follow meal plan with normal food.

This is my last week blogging about Revolt Fitness but I plan to stay with the program. I do love it and have everything I need at home.

I really don't want to post before and after pictures.  Those just don't need to be out there for the world to see.  But I will post my total stats.

I'm afraid this is the most you'll get as far as an after picture goes...one half of me in a 2 piece bathing suit. This is from July 12 when I was in Jamaica.  I can say that after my weeks with Revolt, I'm ok with having bathing suit pictures "out there" which was not the case before Revolt.

I hope you've enjoyed learning about Revolt Fitness and following my journey over the past 12 weeks.

Revolt Fitness costs $10 a month. There are no sign up fees or contracts and you may cancel at any time. That's cheaper than a gym and you workout in the comfort of your own home.

Sign up for a FREE week at Revolt Fitness.  Find out if Revolt is the program for you!  You will have access to a start up guide, 1 week of workouts/videos with 3 different fitness levels, and 1 week of meal plan with 6 different calorie levels.

Happy 9th Birthday Dylan!

My sweet and sensitive baby boy, Dylan, turns 9 today.  You were born at 10:01am on a Thursday, via a planned C-section.

At 6 months old you were sitting up and starting to move.  You were such a cute baby!

You were a climber and an active little boy!

You loved to "color on your face" when I wasn't paying attention.  I didn't love it so much but you were so proud of your artwork.

I love your adventurous spirit and easy going personality!

You are gentle, kind and love animals.

You love me this much, my momma's boy!  Just last week you asked me to read you Guess How Much I Love You.  Sometimes you want me to read Love You Forever but you knows it always makes me cry.

Happy Birthday buddy!  I love you!

Fruit Brownie [Foodie Friday]

This week for Foodie Friday I'm bringing you my Fruit Brownie dessert.  I love sweets so this Fruit Brownie dessert is amazingly delicious with sweet fruit and rich brownie!  I could eat the entire tray!

This is an easy dessert perfect for summertime.  I made this for a 4th of July party and considered replacing the kiwi with blueberries for red, white and blue but decided against it because I like kiwi more than blueberries.

This Fruit Brownie dessert should be served shortly after you add the fruit because the banana will brown.  Here's an after picture (about 9 hours later), not as pretty but still just as delicious!

ENJOY!

Revolt Fitness Week of July 8

For the week of July 8th, I was on vacation in Jamaica.  I had every intention of doing my Revolt Fitness workouts, really I did.  I brought workout clothes, shoes and my tablet to watch the videos.  This was a kid free vacation so I knew all my time was my own.

What's the saying about best laid plans....  The resort did have a gym but only the lobby had Wi-Fi.  Our room didn't even have Wi-Fi.  I could have printed out the workout sheets but that didn't happen.  Oh well!  It was a much needed break!  I did use my tennis shoes....to climb Dunn's River Falls (instead of renting water shoes).

Like I said, this was an all inclusive resort, including alcohol (YEAH!).  On about the third day, I thought about how many calories might be in the pina coladas I was drinking.  I'll just add that to the desserts I had at every meal.  Seriously good food!!

Here are my numbers from a week of poor eating and a lot of laying around on the beach.

I'm hoping that's just extra water weight and it disappears this week.  I'm back to the workouts and clean eating (almost).

Do you eat well while on vacation?

BEJEWELED Frenzy Review

Summer break is here but I refuse to let my boys be TV and video game zombies.  Of course there are days they watch/play longer than I'd like, but once in awhile is ok.  This summer we are also reading, staying active and playing board games.

My boys and I received the new Hasbro game BEJEWELED Frenzy.  It's for 2-4 players, ages 8+. BEJEWELED Frenzy is a sparkly card game where kids race to match gems and build the largest stack of cards. Kids will love competing with their friends to collapse their stack, collect Boost Gems and score the most points to win!

It's a fun game!  Dylan, my 9 year old, enjoyed it more than Jared, my 12 year old.  They both got the hang of the game quickly but needed help with two of the colors that had a similar gem shape (both my boys are red/green color blind).  This would be a great game for the car or vacation since it has a game case which keeps all cards and gems in place.
Approximate Retail Price is $14.99.

Disclaimer: I was given a free game of BEJEWELED Frenzy in return for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Music Monday [videos with celebs]

I'm back to life and blogging after a week in Jamaica!  We stayed at an all inclusive resort near Ocho Rios.  I think this is the first vacation I've been on where I didn't need a vacation to recover from my vacation.  Know what I mean?!

For today's Music Monday, the theme is music videos that feature celebrities.

I always like to use the first thing that comes to my mind.  For this week that's Paula Abdul's Rush Rush with Keanu Reeves. I loved Keanu Reeves in the 90s!  Don't miss his talking part around 3:10.

Here's one of my favorite groups with celeb Alyssa Milano in their video.  Blink 182's Josie

This last song's name is not funny but the song has a fun twist if you listen all the way to the end...that's also where the celebrity is so don't miss him.  Sublime's Date Rape.
Do you know the celebrity's name?

Music Monday [Funny Songs]

Time for Music Monday again!  I was surprised this week's theme didn't have something to do with the Fourth of July since it's Thursday.  Instead this week's theme is funny songs.

When I saw funny songs as our theme today, They Might Be Giants was the first group that came to mind.  I've always like them and their wacky songs.

Here's They Might Be Giants with Istanbul (Not Constantinople).

I discovered and started to love Weezer in the 90s when I was in college.  Here's Beverly Hills by Weezer.

I've always like this song and thought it was funny.  The video is great with older people in younger roles!  Girls & Boys by Good Charlotte
